After my trip to New York for Tommy Hilfiger I was invited by Mazda to test their new model, Mazda6, in a roadtrip from Zürich to Salone Del Mobile in Milan where the car was showcased. How insane!
With a group of sixteen people we drove from the airport to the Museum für Gestaltung in Zürich (which was all about 3D printing), had a great lunch near the Lago de Maggiore (beautiful!) and ended the roadtrip at the Via Tortona in Milan.
Near the nHow Hotel, where we all stayed, Mazda had their showroom which was open for public. Here you were able to experience the story and inspiration behind the new Mazda6 and I must say I was pretty impressed. Their Japanese way of thinking, simplicity in design made me realize how extremely difficult it is to design a car for human society.
Anyway, there was a lot more to see at Salone Del Mobile. I got invited to the opening of Moooi from Marcel Wanders. For the 52nd edition of the international design fair the Dutch label had prepared an entire collection of new designs and surprising experiences in an imposing space of 1.700 m2. Vroonland & Vaandrager, the label of my boyfriend, was also represented in the space with their extension chair. Proud!
Dutch photographer Erwin Olaf (who works closely with Marcel for already 10 years) shot all the images presented in the space. Really breathtaking…
Another favorite during Salone Del Mobile was Tom Dixon for Adidas.
