‘Peacocking’ the next big thing?

Ok, let’s make myself clear before I start: I also make pictures from well-dressed people on the streets in London and Paris during fashion week because it inspires me in some ways.

BUT what I find difficult to see lately is the insane crowd of people hanging around the fashion show area. I noticed two older guys in front of Valentino last edition, one wearing a fur coat with fur bag and hat, the other one dressed up in high heels, hat, short skirt, pantyhose and red leather jacket. Nothing wrong with guys wearing female clothes, everybody is free to wear what he/she wants, but the photographers went crazy on the couple! Is this what we call fashion? I know I’m not totally on top of the latest fashiontrends with my (mostly) black wardobe, that’s also not my case, but this was a bit too much.

Well known fashionjournalist Tim Blanks shares his thoughts on streetstyle in a video called ‘Take my Picture’ by Garage Magazine.

My hero Bill Cunningham said once: “The best fashion show is definitely on the street. Always has been, and always will be.” But after seeing him almost getting runned over when snapping good looking people, he might thinks different now.
