My dear friend Claes Iversen presented his first ready-to-wear collection ‘II by Claes Iversen’. A collection which present his love for couture in detailing and materials, ‘sober, with a luxury effect’ as he describes it himself. The starting point for II was folding and elegant draping in dresses, pants and tops. His overall look was clean and crispy with delicate embroidery. The trenchcoat and white pants were one of my favorites as well as the green dress and black top with pleats on the back. A successful first launch!
I’ve met Melanie Brown to a friend of mine Robert Risteski from KTZ. Brown earned her stripes at Stills before launching her own label Brown Clothes. In 2014, years later, she changed her name to By Brown and made her comeback at Fashion Week in Amsterdam. I couldn’t make it to the show but seeing her feminine collection in pictures I missed a colourful and refreshing collection.
Marga Weimans presented her Spring 2015 ‘Atelier’ collection, based on her archives, on the last day of MBFWA. It started with four square shaped looks, folded like origami, creased and crumbled, a true insight in her working process. Later on Marga showed more wearable pieces in recycled vintage leather and batik-like dresses.
