I’m a huge fan of Dutch designlabel Avelon from Erik Frenken. This season he launches its first Resort collection, inspired by the philosophy of Wolfgang Tillmans. The casual feel of his work, which shows direction in execution and the on-going investigation of ways and new techniques to express his creativity where the main thoughts behind the new collection.
For this collection designer Erik acted as a documentarian of the world to see and share everything beautiful different within the world like Tillmans does in his photography. The strength of Avelon lies in the use of prints and introduction of new techniques. Modern 3D lace, transparency and cut-outs give texture to the collection and are reinforced by the use of washed light silks for a luxurious appeal. Sophisticated silhouettes are shown by the use of asymmetry and double layering.
