During my stay in Paris for fashion week I treated myself with an inspiring cultural shot by visiting some exhibitions. One of them was Arrrgh! Monsters in Fashion in the Gaité Lyrique galerie near Arts & Metier. A beautiful and inspiring place where Jean-Paul Lespagnard also presented his collection for fall/winter 2013/2014 last Monday.
Monsters of fashion is about fifty-eight designers who, inspired by design, sketches and animation, use monster form or expression in their designs or clothing line. Alexander McQueen is presented, next to Mareunrol’s, Walter van Beirendonck and Dutch designtalents Bart Hess (who worked closely with Lady Gaga) and Bas Kosters.
Designduo Mareunrol’s and Charlie le Mindu are known for their dark and controversial way of designing, where Walter van B, Bas K and Japanese designer Hideki Seo made me smile with their humoristic and playfull point of view on fashion. I’m also a huge fan of Filep Motwary and Maria Mastori.
Now this exhibition is presented in Centraal Museum from the 19th of October till 19th of January. Truly worth a visit!
