In honor of the academy’s 350th anniversary and its fashion department’s 50th, the Belgian school hosts an assortment of celebrations in collaboration with MoMu, MAS, the Royal Museum of Fine Arts Antwerp and Antwerpen Open. Fashion lovers and non-fashion lovers will have an assortment of exhibitions, special events, conferences and even a city walk to check out.
The exhibition throws light on various aspects of the courses offered by the Antwerp Fashion Department over its first 50 years: the department’s distinctive curriculum and its educational methods, the Antwerp Six (Ann Demeulemeester, Dries Van Noten, Dirk Van Saene, Walter Van Beirendonck, Marina Yee, Dirk Bikkembergs) and Martin Margiela, the importance of graphic designs by illustrations, all impressive graduation work and new work by alumni.
The exhibition is really interesting and impressive to see. You can feel the importance of this academy and its rewarded impact on the fashion world. Even if you’re not a fashion lover this expo is truly a must see.
